With an eye on 2014, Aécio is expected to spend the São João festivities in the Northeast.
Given the need to get closer to the voters of the Northeast, Senator and pre-candidate for President of the Republic for the PSDB, Aécio Neves (MG), is expected to attend the São João 2013 festivities in Caruaru, in the Pernambuco countryside; in addition, at the invitation of Senator Cássio Cunha (PSDB-PB), the presidential candidate is also expected to visit the June festivals in Campina Grande, Paraíba; in his pre-campaign for the Planalto Palace, the PSDB member is trying to win not only the favor of Saint John and Saint Peter, but also that of the voters.
PE247 – Given the need to get closer to the electorate in the Northeast, Senator and pre-candidate for President of the Republic for the PSDB, Aécio Neves (MG), is expected to attend the São João 2013 festivities in Caruaru, in the Pernambuco countryside. Furthermore, at the invitation of Senator Cássio Cunha (PSDB-PB), the presidential candidate is also expected to visit the June festivities in Campina Grande, Paraíba, a state governed by Ricardo Coutinho (PSB), with whom Aécio has a friendly relationship.
Elected national president of the PSDB last month, Aécio also enjoys a good relationship with the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB). Both have aligned themselves, for example, in their criticism of President Dilma Rousseff's (PT) administration regarding inflation – currently at 5,8%, above the target ceiling (4,5%) and below the limit (6,5%). Campos and Aécio have even advocated for the end of reelection.
The alignment between the PSDB (Brazilian Socialist Party) and the PSB (Brazilian Socialist Party) has been such that, according to behind-the-scenes sources, they could unite in a possible second round of the presidential election against President Dilma. The reason would be the possibility of the PT (Workers' Party) retaliating against the PSB by breaking its alliance with the PSB, since, officially, Campos is still part of the federal government's allied base.
The visit of the candidate from the PSDB party to the region during the June festivities has its reason, since Aécio is trying to make his name better known in the Northeast, where the PT and PSB parties have their highest electoral coefficient. In this respect, enjoying the June festivities can bring not only the blessings of Saint John and Saint Peter, but also those of the voter.
