Danilo: King of the Majestic

The midfielder played in 10 matches between São Paulo and Corinthians and lost only one.

247_Danilo is currently experiencing his best moment at Corinthians. The player is an undisputed starter and a trusted man of coach Tite. And, once again, he delivered a great performance in the Majestoso derby between São Paulo and Corinthians. The midfielder, who previously played for the rival team, has participated in ten derbies. He scored five goals (three for São Paulo and two for Corinthians), achieved seven wins, two draws, and only one defeat. He has four wins wearing the São Paulo jersey and three with Corinthians. It was at Corinthians that he experienced his only defeat: in the match where Rogério Ceni scored his 100th goal, in the first phase of this year's Paulista Championship.

The athlete was also present in both of the classic's thrashing victories in the last 10 years: 5-1 for Tricolor in 2005 and 5-0 for Corinthians last Sunday. In both games, the midfielder left his mark. In a press conference at the Joaquim Grava Training Center, Danilo commented on his performance in the match: “I know that a classic is the game that every player likes to play and, when you stand out, it's very good. I had a spell at São Paulo, it was very good, but now I'm on the Corinthians side. We will have more classics ahead and I want to repeat the good results,” said the midfielder. Wearing the Corinthians shirt, he scored two goals against São Paulo.

At his peak with the club, Danilo anticipates a problem for Tite in selecting the team with the arrival of newly signed Alex. “It’s a good problem. The more quality players, the better. The idea is to help the squad. There are different positions; one plays deeper, another further forward. It’s up to Tite to choose what’s best for the team,” Danilo assesses.
