While his fellow party members Walter Pinheiro (senator) and Rui Costa (Chief of Staff of the State) are orchestrating their names with greater media attention, the former president of Petrobras, José Sérgio Gabrielli, continues trying to make his name viable within the PT party, leveraging the support of his candidacy's godfather, former president Lula, and his travels throughout the interior to showcase the work of his department, the Planning Secretariat (Seplan).

And despite the low profile, he gained another important endorsement this Thursday in the internal race for Governor Jaques Wagner's nomination. The Unified Workers' Central (CUT) will present in the coming days an open letter from leaders of the Trade Union Articulation, the majority group within the organization, supporting Gabrielli's candidacy.

The proposal was presented at a breakfast meeting at the Hotel Vila Velha, and the former president of Petrobras gained support from union leaders connected to the mining, oil, chemical, energy, postal, food, taxi, road transport, and rural worker sectors, among others.

It was also agreed that a committee will develop mobilization strategies in the various municipalities of the State and organize an event for approximately 800 people on October 17th.

Gabrielli has the chance to not only become a strong candidate but also make his mark in Bahia even before a possible election for governor. He is responsible for the entire design of the Salvador-Itaparica Island Bridge, which is projected to require investments of around R$ 7 billion and will be one of the largest in the world. It is the largest project ever undertaken in Bahia.
