Goiás247_ The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) investigating problems related to Public Security in the State of Goiás held its third meeting this Thursday, the 13th. During the meeting, requests presented on Tuesday, the 11th, were voted on, concerning invitations for authorities to appear before the CPI and requests for information from the Public Security Secretariat. The session took place in the morning in the Solon Amaral auditorium.
Among the approved invitations, the first one, authored by Representative Luis Cesar Bueno (PT), invites the Secretary of Public Security, Joaquim Mesquita, to appear before the Committee to give testimony.
The second approved invitation, also formulated by Luis Cesar Bueno together with deputy Marcos Martins (PSDB), requests the attendance of the commander-general of the Military Police, Silvio Benedito Alves.
Finally, the invitation, extended by Congressman Marcos Martins, for the Director General of the Civil Police, João Carlos Gorski, to appear and collaborate with the Commission, along with the other invited guests, received the consent of all members of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry).
Three requests were also approved, asking the Public Security Secretariat for information regarding the subject of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) in the State. The first of these, authored by Luis Cesar Bueno, requests a map of violence in Goiás, containing the crime rate and the type of crime by region.
Two other requests, these from Deputy Luiz Carlos do Carmo (PMDB), respectively ask for a technical and statistical report of the last ten years, containing data on all crimes that culminated in death, including the date, motivation, location and circumstances in which the crime occurred, victim data and the date of the opening and progress of the investigation, and the current situation of civil servants, both permanent and commissioned, of the Military and Civil Police and prison officers of the State of Goiás, by city, informing the number of civil servants per city, function, position, rank, location and assignment.
After the vote, Representative Marcos Martins said he was optimistic about the results that could be obtained from the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry). According to him, with the start of the hearings, the CPI will motivate numerous debates that will strengthen the understanding of the subject. "Consequently, there will be an improvement in Public Security, since the parliament will be able to work with greater knowledge about the reality of the State," he pointed out.
In closing, President Helio de Sousa (DEM) called for the next meeting of the Commission to be held on Tuesday, the 18th.
