On the 21 - This Tuesday (21), the State Department of Education must give a response to the Teachers' Center of Rio Grande do Sul (Cpers/Sindicato) regarding the counter-proposal delivered by the category, at the end of the afternoon of this Monday (20), to Secretary Luís Alcoba de Freitas. Before delivering the document, the strike command met at Cpers and prepared the response to the proposal presented by Palácio Piratini, on Friday (16), after the teachers vacated the Fernando Ferrari Administrative Center (CAFF), a condition imposed by the government to resume negotiations. Next Friday (24), the category will hold an assembly at Gigantinho, Capital, to define the course of the strike.

In the document, Cpers requested that the government of José Ivo Sartori (PMDB) formalize issues raised at last Friday's meeting, such as the revocation of the reclassification of the difficult access bonus, which, according to the union president, Helenir Schürer, the Piratini government promised to annul, but at the same time wants to continue the matter in the future, something the category does not accept. The union also requested that demands from the students' agenda addressed by the government also be extended to the category, such as the appointment of teachers and staff, the transfer of funds for school meals, and the budget for the maintenance of educational institutions. Furthermore, Cpers demands a guarantee that teachers, staff, and students will not be "criminalized" by the Piratini government due to the occupations in schools and at CAFF.

The counterproposal presented by the union also includes a 24,37% readjustment to the minimum wage for teachers, a percentage referring to 2015 and 2016, and that the government not deduct the days of the strike, which began on May 16th. Now, according to the president of Cpers, the decision rests with the Piratini government. “We fulfilled what we had agreed upon. Nothing is occupied anymore. Depending on the government's proposal, we will end or further strengthen the strike,” commented Helenir, regarding the government's response and Friday's assembly.
