PE247- The body of accordionist, singer and composer José Domingos, Dominguinhos, was buried on Thursday afternoon (26), in the city of Garanhuns, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. The singer, who had already been buried two months ago in the Morada da Paz Cemetery, in Greater Recife, had his mortal remains transported after a legal action brought by his eldest son, Mauro Moraes. According to Mauro, the composer's wish, revealed in an interview with Rádio Jornal, was to rest in the city where he was born.

Before heading to Garanhuns, the singer's body passed by the Arriégua restaurant in Recife, where Dominguinhos liked to have breakfast when he was passing through the Pernambuco capital, receiving applause from the locals. From there, the singer continued to his final destination, 229 kilometers from Recife. The burial took place around 14:15 PM, amidst much applause and fireworks, in an event reserved for friends, family, and the press.

Dominguinhos passed away two months ago due to cardiac and respiratory complications. The singer had been battling cancer. After his death, his daughter, Liv Moraes, along with his mother, Guadalupe, Dominguinhos' ex-wife, arranged for his burial at the Morada da Paz Cemetery in Recife. Mauro, however, was against it, arguing that his father should rest with his family in Rio de Janeiro. His opinion changed, however, after watching a news report in which the singer stated that he wished to be buried in Garanhuns. Following an agreement between the two brothers, Dominguinhos' body was able to bid its final farewell in Recife before being taken to his hometown.
