Sao Paulo - Around 300 Corinthians fans participated in a protest today (2) in the capital of São Paulo, demanding the release of the 12 detainees in the city of Oruro, in Bolivia. The demonstrators gathered in front of the Bolivian consulate, which is located on Avenida Paulista.

The 12 Corinthians fans were arrested in connection with the death of 14-year-old Bolivian Kevin Douglas Beltrán Espada, who was struck by a flare during the Copa Libertadores de América match between San José and Corinthians at the Jesús Bermudez Stadium.

Among the protesters were relatives of the prisoners, such as Ivone Araújo Rodrigues, wife of the fan Marco Aurélio. Seven months pregnant, Ivone fears that her husband will miss the birth of their baby. "I know he is very desperate, he's afraid that his son will be born and he won't see him," she said.

Ivone also said she was worried about the possibility of Marcos losing his job. “I’m trying to be strong, to fight for his freedom and for all the innocent people who are with him. I hope this will be soon. I am awaiting God’s justice.”

Igor Henrique Nonato, brother of another arrested fan, Hugo Nonato, said he maintains constant contact with him. "Hugo always asks about the family," said Igor, who is certain of his brother's innocence. "It's complicated. We know that none of them set off the device. And that they are all innocent."
