In the two games played at 21:45 pm (Brasília time) in this 12th round of the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians' victory was the highlight. Away from home, Timão beat América-MG 2-0 and closed the gap on the leader. Alvinegro reached 22 points, the same score as Palmeiras, who take the field this Thursday (30), against Figueirense. In the other match of the night, which marked a meeting between Tricolores, São Paulo defeated Fluminense 2-1.
At Independência stadium, even playing away from home, Corinthians entered the field with an overwhelming rhythm and opened the scoring after just nine minutes. Following a corner kick, Giovanni crossed into the area, Balbuena headed the ball down, and Romero, unmarked, found the back of the net. Until the end of the first half, Timão dominated the offensive actions and missed good chances to extend their lead. In the second half, the São Paulo team returned with a more complacent posture, and América-MG began to enjoy the game more and create goal-scoring opportunities. However, the night of goals belonged only to Corinthians. In the 28th minute, the referee saw a handball by Luciano inside the area and awarded a penalty. Marquinhos Gabriel converted the penalty, sending João Ricardo the wrong way and securing the Corinthians victory. While Timão closed the gap on the leaders, América-MG remains with eight points, in 20th place.

Early in the second half, in the fifth minute, the referee saw João Schmidt handle the ball in the area and awarded a penalty. Cícero converted the penalty, sending Denis the wrong way and reducing the deficit. The Rio de Janeiro team attempted a comeback and created good chances, but their finishing let them down. With this result, São Paulo reached 18 points, moving into seventh place. Fluminense remains on 16 points and dropped to 11th place.
