Conseg wants 'panic button' in restaurants
The Alagoas State Security Council (Conseg) will forward to the Secretary of Social Defense a proposal to install a "panic button" in restaurants and bars in Maceió. The proposal was presented by the entity representing business owners after an increase in the number of robberies at commercial establishments in Maceió.
Alagoas247 - The Alagoas State Security Council (Conseg) discussed, during its session this Monday (10), the proposal to install a "panic button" in restaurants and bars in Maceió. The proposal comes from the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel), following the increase in robberies registered at commercial establishments in the capital. There is no date for the adoption of the measure.
According to the president of Conseg, Maurício Brêda, the proposal was discussed by the council members and, now, it will be up to the State Secretariat of Social Defense (Seds) to integrate the system made available to the establishments with the Integrated Center for Social Defense Operations (Ciods).
Initially, it is expected that the costs of implementing the so-called "panic button" will be covered by the business owners. "The board views Abrasel's proposal with great satisfaction. Any measure aimed at combating crime will receive our support," he emphasized.
Commercial establishments located in other northeastern states have the device installed. "In these regions, a reduction in the number of robberies of commercial establishments has been observed," Brêda emphasized. According to the president of Conseg, in addition to the "panic button," the work to combat crime led by the police must continue.
