247 - Drivers in São Paulo are facing, this morning (23), the biggest traffic jam ever recorded by the Traffic Engineering Company in the period. Around 9:55 am, the city had 249 kilometers of roads with slow traffic, a record since the capital's traffic began to be monitored. The previous record had been reached on November 4, 2004, when the city recorded, at 9:30 am, 191 kilometers of slow traffic. In 2012, the record was on April 27, with 168 kilometers of queues.

The situation was mainly caused by the strike of subway workers and employees of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (São Paulo Metropolitan Train Company), which began in the early morning and partially paralyzed train and subway service in the capital.

The suspension of the vehicle rotation system, implemented to reduce the impact of the lack of transportation services, and an accident involving a truck, which has blocked two lanes of Marginal Pinheiros, one of the city's main roads, since dawn, are also contributing to the traffic congestion.

The Pinheiros and Tietê riverbanks, Avenida dos Bandeirantes, and Avenida Radial Leste are some of the roads with the most congested stretches.
