A special commission will assess the increase in the number of police officers killed in the line of duty.
Proposed by federal deputy Cabo Sabino (PR-CE), the commission that will evaluate the increase in the number of police officers killed in the line of duty throughout the country is expected to be installed this afternoon.
Amid dissatisfaction from the Military Police of several states, the external commission that will assess the increase in the number of police officers killed on duty throughout the country should be installed this afternoon (14). After the installation, the work plan will be defined. The creation of the commission was approved last week by the Plenary of the Federal Chamber, at the request of Deputy Cabo Sabino (PR-CE).
According to the 10th edition of the Brazilian Yearbook of Public Security, 455 police officers were murdered in 2015 and another 1,2 were injured. "That is, a public security agent is murdered every 16 hours. These data confirm the trend already observed in other editions, which indicate that the number of public security agents murdered is growing more and more in Brazil," the congressman analyzed.
Today, on his Facebook page, the congressman highlighted the importance of the new commission's work. "Good morning, everyone! The External Commission, proposed by my office, which will investigate the deaths of Public Security professionals in Brazil, will be of incalculable importance. I will strive to ensure that, in this country, instead of mourning, the lives of the men and women who dedicate themselves to guaranteeing the safety and well-being of society are preserved and celebrated."
