Tocantins 247 - The "Reage Mulher" (React Woman) Movement, conceived by the "Reage Tocantins" Coalition, held its first meeting this Friday, the 18th. The event brought together approximately 80 women, leaders and wives of the candidates who make up the coalition, to propose new ideas and discuss effective participation in politics. Suggestions were gathered to be integrated into the Reage Mulher Action Plan, which is still being drafted.
On an afternoon marked by life stories about women's participation in politics, Cinthia Ribeiro, the candidate for vice-governor for the Reage Tocantins Coalition, shared a bit of her own story. She said she was one of the pioneers in bringing together groups of women to discuss politics in the state. "I started with a pioneering movement. We built a grassroots effort that yielded good results. We want to encourage women to actively participate in public life so they can help us build a better Tocantins," she said.
According to the movement's coordinator, Viviane Fragoso, Tocantins politics needs women to have an active voice. "That's why we formed the 'Reage Mulher' (React Woman) Movement. Many women are politically active, but they're not in party politics. When we stop governing, we lose our voice. We need to get out of our comfort zone and take action," she stated.
According to the President of PROS Mulher (Women's PROS), Nazaré Marthins, women have the opportunity to change the course of Tocantins. "In Senator Ataídes Oliveira's government, women will have a place. We are preparing for that," she said.
The "Reage Mulher" initiative aims to promote the strengthening and reaffirmation of women's citizenship in Tocantins politics, implement the Reage Mulher Movement's Action Plan, and gather proposals for the government plan of gubernatorial candidate Ataídes Oliveira.
The next meeting of the movement is scheduled to take place in 20 days.
