247 CNN Brazil featured a story on its homepage about alleged violent antifascists in São Paulo. The group, referred to simply as "Antifas" in the article, stated that "there is a need for violence."

CNN Brazil report This highlights an excerpt from an interview with members of the group: “Antifascism seeks to overcome capitalism. We seek to overcome capitalism, we seek to overcome machismo, sexism, homophobia, and racism. We understand that these structures of oppression that exist in our society are structures of oppression based on capitalist logic. We understand that to overcome these oppressions, we need to overcome capitalism.”

Regarding the use of violence, and according to the CNN report, they say: “Without a doubt. There is a need for violence. We live in a country where we have an exorbitant, excessive homicide rate, so it's necessary. Violence is part of being human, it's part of capitalist society, the state is violent towards us, the police are violent, so why not use violence as well?”
