Ceara 247 - The Cariri region received, last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (May 18, 19 and 20), a Mission from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank/IBRD), which verified in loco infrastructure works being carried out by the Secretariat of Cities, through the Ceará Cities - Central Cariri program (Cities I).

The mission continues until this Friday (May 22nd) in Fortaleza. Led by World Bank consultant Silvie Debomy, the delegation visited the construction sites of the Barbalha and Juazeiro do Norte bypass avenues; the urbanization of the Caldas district; Vila da Música; and the urbanization of the slope in the Seminário neighborhood, in the municipality of Crato. In total, more than R$ 132 million are being invested in interventions that will benefit the entire region.

During the meeting, the Cities I Project team provided explanations about the work of the three components that make up the program's actions in Cariri. The mission evaluated the progress of the works, updated the schedule of interventions (already executed and to be executed), and verified the action plan. The resources invested and the products already completed by the Project were also presented.

According to the Deputy Secretary of Cities, Quintino Vieira, who accompanied the mission every day, the department has been playing "a major role in the execution of the works," which was able to be monitored by World Bank technicians. "This moment is very important for us, since the Bank can monitor the correct application of resources by the Secretariat of Cities," the secretary highlighted.
