Ceará 247 - Cid Gomes (PDT), former governor of Ceará, stated this Sunday (1st), during the inauguration of the re-elected mayor in Fortaleza, Roberto Cláudio (PDT), that the administrations of allied mayors will play an important role in the candidacy of his brother, Ciro Gomes (PDT), for the Presidency in 2018. "Among the names already put forward, I think he (Ciro) is the one who knows the reality of the country best; he has more experience, both from past administrations as a minister and from what he has been doing throughout Brazil," assessed Cid. As information They are from the State of São Paulo.

"According to Cid, with Ciro as a pre-candidate for president, the administrations of Roberto Cláudio in Fortaleza and the youngest brother of the Gomes family, Ivo (PDT), who was also sworn in as mayor of Sobral, in northern Ceará, this Sunday, will help the presidential campaign. "Of course it helps. If they are going to make a connection with Ciro, Roberto and Ivo will be very much in the spotlight," he opined."

In his inaugural speech, Roberto Cláudio highlighted the presence of Cid Gomes and thanked him and Ciro for the support he received during the campaign: "I would like to express my gratitude for the daily lessons in citizenship, public spirit, respect and affection for the people, received from two great figures in my public life; two national leaders of enormous respectability, who, to our privilege, are sons and political activists of this land: Ciro and Cid Gomes."

Supported by the governor of Ceará, Camilo Santana (PT), and by brothers Ciro and Cid Gomes, the PDT candidate was re-elected mayor of Fortaleza in the second round with 53,57% of the valid votes. The mayor will have a large majority in the City Council. His allied base includes 31 councilors, compared to ten from the opposition and two others who declare themselves independent.

Ciro did not attend Roberto Cláudio's inauguration. He preferred to attend the inauguration ceremony of his brother Ivo, which took place at the same time.
