Chico D'angelo and Fontana formally summon Padilha.
“The allegations are very serious, and the public has the right to all the information about these events, which demonstrate the lack of seriousness of Michel Temer's unelected government. We want all the clarifications,” says Congressman Henrique Fontana (PT-RS); former Minister of Culture, Marcelo Calero, accuses Eliseu Padilha of pressuring him to approve an illegal construction project in Bahia, which would benefit Geddel Vieira Lima.
RS 247 – The president of the Chamber of Deputies' Culture Committee, Congressman Chico D'Ângelo, and Congressman Henrique Fontana (PT-RS) filed a request to summon the Chief of Staff, Eliseu Padilha (PMDB-RS), to appear before the Committee to clarify the allegations involving the conduct of the former Minister of the Government Secretariat, Geddel Vieira Lima.
The request was filed on Monday afternoon (28), along with three other invitations for the Secretary of Legal Affairs of the Civil House, Gustavo Rocha, the Chief Prosecutor of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan), Heliomar Alencar de Oliveira and the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic Michel Temer, Nara de Deus, to also appear in the Chamber.
All were mentioned by former Culture Minister Marcelo Calero to the Federal Police last week when he stated that President Michel Temer intervened in favor of the interests of the now former Minister of the Government Secretariat, Geddel Vieira Lima, to approve a construction project in Salvador. Geddel resigned from his post after the accusation.
According to Fontana, the purpose of the summons is to clarify the facts given the seriousness of the episodes reported by Calero, which, if confirmed, constitute the crime of extortion. This crime is defined in article 316 of the Penal Code, which refers to the use of one's position to obtain undue advantage.
"The allegations are very serious, and the public has the right to all the information about these events, which demonstrate the lack of seriousness of Michel Temer's unelected government. We want all the clarifications," the congressman stated.
