Chapecoense and Flamengo faced off this Sunday at Arena Condá in a match valid for the 13th round of the 2014 Brazilian Championship. Playing at home, Chapecoense took the lead in the first half with a goal from Rafael Lima and secured three important points in the fight against relegation.

With this result, the Santa Catarina club jumped to 13th place with 14 points so far. Flamengo, with the defeat, further complicated their situation in the relegation zone and now occupies last place with 10 points.

In the next round, Chapecoense hosts Figueirense in a clash of teams from Santa Catarina at Arena Condá, starting at 18:30 PM (Brasilia time) next Sunday. Flamengo, in turn, hosts Sport at Maracanã, at 16 PM (Brasilia time) on the same day.

O JOGO

Just five minutes into the game, Chapecoense showed their intentions to Flamengo. Fabinho Alves created space in midfield and unleashed a powerful shot towards the middle of the goal, but Paulo Victor saved it in two stages. A minute later, Nenén put the ball into the area from a free kick and Rafael Lima deflected it into the back of the net, giving the Flamengo goalkeeper no chance: Chape 1-0.

At 14 minutes, João Paulo made a mistake and passed the ball too short back to goalkeeper Paulo Victor, who had to quickly leave his goal to prevent Bruno Rangel from taking advantage of the defensive error. The game lost some of its opportunities from then on, but Chapecoense could have extended their lead in the 43rd minute when Neuton took a powerful diagonal shot from outside the area. Paulo Victor didn't seem very secure, but the ball didn't find its way into the goal and went out of play. After two minutes of added time, the referee ended the first half: Chapecoense 1 x 0 Flamengo.

After a lukewarm start to the second half, Chapecoense came close in the 12th minute with Wanderson, who rose alone after a corner kick and forced Paulo Victor into a good save. Three minutes later, more Chapecoense. Dedé managed a powerful shot from outside the area, forcing Paulo Victor to make another dangerous save, which he had to handle in two stages. A minute later, the pressure continued, and it was Fabiano's turn to shoot powerfully, forcing a save from the Flamengo goalkeeper, who was making numerous saves.

At 18 minutes, Flamengo had a chance to equalize with Alecsandro, who played dirty, using his hand to get past Rafael Lima and find himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. However, Danilo made a miraculous save, preventing what would have been an unfair 1-1 draw. At 22 minutes, Danilo collided with Mugni, and Alecsandro had a chance to head the ball into an open net, but he couldn't find the target. At 33 minutes, Neném took a good free kick that grazed the right post defended by Paulo Victor. Chapecoense almost extended their lead. With no further significant opportunities to highlight, the match ended with a narrow victory for the Santa Catarina club. Chapecoense 1 x 0 Flamengo, final score.
