The rains of the last few days in the state of São Paulo did not result in an increase in the level of the Cantareira System, which has remained stable since Saturday (11) at 15,4% of the total stored in the reservoir. Discounting the use of the dead volume, the water is 9,3% below the level of pump intake, used before the supply crisis in the state. The data is from the São Paulo State Basic Sanitation Company (Sabesp).

Guarapiranga operates, this Saturday (18), at 83,2% of its capacity, an increase of 0,1% compared to yesterday; the Rio Claro System, at 45,1%, an increase of 0,1%; the Alto Tietê, at 22,2%, an increase of 0,1%, and the Alto Cotia, at 65%, with an increase in level of 0,2%. The Rio Grande System remained stable, from yesterday to today, at 96,3%.

Due to the supply crisis, Sabesp has been gradually reducing the areas served by the Cantareira system. The system, which served approximately 9 million people, now supplies water to 5,4 million. The most recent measure taken by the São Paulo state government was to include, for the first time, the Rio Grande System in the capital's water supply. According to the announcement made earlier this week, the reservoir now serves neighborhoods in the southern zone, previously supplied by the Guarapiranga Reservoir, which now provides water to 250 people in the Cantareira region.
