Scenes from a funeral: Lula cries, Marina smiles.
Images captured at Eduardo Campos's wake reveal a more relaxed Marina Silva than suggested by the candidate's official speech, in which she claimed to be more shaken than the widow Renata Campos herself; in one of the photos, she leans over the cot and an aide smiles beside her; in contrast, former president Lula broke down in tears while embracing the widow Renata and holding the newborn Miguel, the fifth child of the former governor of Pernambuco.
Pernambuco 247 - Images captured by photographers at Eduardo Campos's wake, held this Sunday in Recife, reveal a more relaxed Marina Silva than her official speech suggested – in recent days, sources leaked information that she was more shaken than the widow herself, Renata Campos, who was reportedly able to comfort her.
In some scenes, Marina appears lighthearted and even manages a smile. In one image, she leans over Eduardo Campos' coffin, and an aide beside her smiles.
In a different way, former President Lula couldn't contain his emotion. He broke down in tears while embracing Eduardo Campos' widow, Renata, and his children. In an interview with Globonews, the former governor's brother, Antônio Campos, emphasized the friendship between the two families. "I was with President Lula and we talked about how, above the momentary political and electoral differences, there is a strong friendship that unites our families," he stated.

Admirers express their grief in tears over the death of Eduardo Campos.
Thousands of people and one feeling in common: sadness. Family, friends, politicians and admirers expressed in tears and bewilderment the pain over the death of the former governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, who is being mourned today (17) at the Palácio Campo das Princesas, the seat of government. During the almost two-hour funeral mass, celebrated by the archbishop of Recife and Olinda, Dom Fernando Saburido, many present at the ceremony were in tears. The fire department had to assist some people who became ill near the coffin of the former governor of Pernambuco.
Beside the coffin, the widow Renata Campos remained serene, close to her children. In the middle of the ceremony, six-month-old Miguel was carried inside the palace by an aunt. Ana Arraes, Eduardo Campos' mother, seemed the most distraught by the tragedy of last Wednesday on the coast of São Paulo, when the plane carrying Campos' entourage crashed in Santos.
Even though he was Campos' opponent in the presidential race, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was in tears at the end of the open-air mass. Congressman Beto Albuquerque from Rio Grande do Sul and congresswoman Luiza Erundina, from the same party as Eduardo, couldn't contain themselves either.
President Dilma Rousseff, who is running for re-election, PSDB presidential candidate Aécio Neves, PV candidate Eduardo Jorge, and Campos' running mate, Marina Silva, attended the celebration.
Also present were the governors of Pernambuco, José Lyra; São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin; Alagoas, Teotônio Vilela; Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande; the Federal District, Agnelo Queiroz; and other authorities, including ministers, mayors, ambassadors, and business leaders.
The remains of Eduardo Campos will lie in state at the government headquarters until 17 PM, when the coffin will be taken in an open fire truck to the Santo Amaro Cemetery.
Also lying in state at the Pernambuco state government headquarters are the bodies of journalist Carlos Percol, photographer Alexandre Severo, and cameraman Marcelo Lyra.
