Cemig will be included in the new Dow Jones Index.

Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais was selected, along with 68 other companies from 20 countries, to be part of the sustainability index for emerging countries recently launched by S&P Dow Jones, the world's largest provider of financial market indices.

Minas Agency - Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) has joined the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, a sustainability index for emerging countries recently launched by S&P Dow Jones, the world's largest provider of financial market indices, and RobecoSAM, an asset management company focused on sustainable investments.

The new index is comprised of 69 companies from 20 emerging countries recognized for their sustainable practices within a universe of 800 companies analyzed, and represents an important benchmark for foreign investors and asset managers in making investment decisions. The DJSI Emerging Markets joins other regional sustainability indices that exist for Europe, North America, and Asia, in addition to the global Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World).

The criteria for selecting the companies were conducted by RobecoSAM, which considered the companies' performance in corporate sustainability, and the entire process was audited by Deloitte.

Credentials

Cemig is a benchmark in the global economy, recognized for its sustainable practices. For 13 consecutive years, it has been part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World), remaining the only company in the Latin American electricity sector to be part of this index since its creation in 1999. Last year, Cemig was also selected for the eighth consecutive time to be part of the portfolio of the Corporate Sustainability Index – ISE of the São Paulo Stock Exchange – BM&FBovespa.

The company is also, for the third consecutive time, part of the Efficient Carbon Index – ICO2, BM&FBovespa/BNDES portfolio. In January of this year, the Company was elected the 43rd most sustainable company in the world, in the ninth edition of the Annual Global 100 ranking, by the Canadian magazine Corporate Knights. In the utilities sector, which includes electricity, gas and sanitation companies, Cemig was considered the fourth most sustainable company in the world.
