CBF releases the 2012 Brazilian football calendar.
The rounds of the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Sudamericana will not stop during the London Olympic Games, between July 25th and August 11th.
With few changes, the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) released the Brazilian football calendar for next year this Friday. The main difference lies in the weeks when football will be played during the London Olympic Games, between July 25th and August 11th. During this period, the rounds of the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Sudamericana will be maintained, which may cause absences in some teams.
This situation is expected to repeat itself throughout the Brazilian Championship. During the competition, there will be ten FIFA dates, during which matches of the Brazilian national team are scheduled. As is customary, the national tournament will not be suspended for most of these rounds.
The start of Brazilian football in 2012 will begin on January 22nd, with the opening of the state championships. They will have 23 available dates and will end by May 13th. During this period, some clubs will be in the midst of the Libertadores Cup, which begins on January 25th and ends on July 4th, and others in the Copa do Brasil, which runs from March 7th to July 25th.
The most traditional competition in Brazilian football, the Série A of the Campeonato Brasileiro, will begin on May 20th and run until December 2nd, while Série B will run from May 19th to November 24th. The Copa Sudamericana will take place from August 8th to December 12th, and the FIFA Club World Cup from December 6th to 16th.
