The first weekend of the Salvador Book Biennial enchants children with the magic of literature; an audience of 270 people is expected; among the confirmed attendees is the newest member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, Antonio Torres; the fair is expected to generate R$ 7,5 million.

This weekend, children who could have stepped out of its pages filled the Convention Center in Salvador, on... The 11th edition of the Salvador Book Biennial began shortly after Bahia gained another immortal: the writer Antonio Torres, elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

The event, which runs until November 17th, will feature 170 authors, 385 exhibitors, and is expected to attract 270 visitors to the Biennial. Admission costs R$ 4, but authors, teachers, librarians, and professionals in the publishing industry have free access.

Among the confirmed names are André Vianco, Zuenir Ventura, Mary Del Priore, Antonio Torres, Rodrigo Lacerda, Joca Terron, Nelson Maca, Antonio Risério, and João Ubaldo Ribeiro. According to the government of Bahia, which sponsors the event, the volume of business at the fair will be R$ 7,5 million.
