Senator Tasso Jereissati's candidacy for the national presidency of the PSDB party has received a boost from the party's intellectuals, who released a manifesto defending the Ceará senator's name and calling for the party to leave the Temer government. The PSDB convention to elect the new leadership is scheduled for December 9th. Tasso Jereissati, who is currently serving as interim president due to Senator Aécio Neves's absence, has not yet confirmed his candidacy.
Ceará 247 - Senator Tasso Jereissati's candidacy for the national presidency of the PSDB party has received a boost from the party's intellectuals. Economists Luis Roberto Cunha, Elena Landau, Pérsio Árida, and Edmar Bacha, along with political scientist Bolívar Lamounier, released a manifesto defending the candidacy of the senator from Ceará and advocating for the party's withdrawal from the Temer government.
Elena Landau stated that the ministers who advocate remaining in the government are mistaken and that the party could leave the government and continue supporting the reforms. In the manifesto, the intellectuals affirm that ""More than names or party affiliations, what is at stake is the stance required of the party in relation to the Temer government.".
