Marco Damiani _247 – The governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, has just taken a firm step towards establishing his name within the labor movement. He received the national leadership of Força Sindical at the Palácio das Princesas in Recife in the early afternoon. Led by president Paulo Pereira da Silva, the union leaders left convinced that Campos could be supported by the central union if his candidacy for president of the Republic in 2014 is confirmed.

“I am certain that the name of the governor of Pernambuco, if he is put forward for the Presidency, will have the support of several important leaders of our union,” the general secretary of Força Sindical, João Carlos Gonçalves, told 247. “He has demonstrated sensitivity to the main issues on the workers' agenda,” Juruna emphasized.

The issue of the Ports Provisional Measure, issued by the federal government and opposed by the Força Sindical labor union, was discussed with Campos, who is also the president of the PSB party. The governor of Pernambuco, who administers the port of Suape, which belongs to the state, complained to the union leaders about not having been consulted on the terms of the new legislation. "A provisional measure was issued without any consultation. Our experience here at the port of Suape would be important," Campos said, according to the union leaders.

The governor did not commit to running for president. "It's too early to discuss this matter; the country has much more important problems to solve first," he stated, according to union representatives. It was agreed that Campos will be in São Paulo on the 25th, where he will be at the center of a national meeting of the Força Sindical union. "Today we had a very productive meeting," Juruna summarized to 247.
