Campos denies sending "messages" and pressuring the PSB.
The governor of Pernambuco and potential presidential candidate for the PSB in 2014, Eduardo Campos, denied sending messages to his party colleague and Minister of National Integration, Fernando Bezerra Coelho (PSB-PE), or to President Dilma Rousseff (PT), during an event to sign the order of service for the construction of the Agreste Water Pipeline in Pesqueira, in the interior of the state; on that occasion, Eduardo and FBC exchanged barbs about the federal resources allocated to Pernambuco.
PE247 - The governor of Pernambuco and potential presidential candidate for the PSB in 2014, Eduardo Campos, denied sending messages to his party colleague and Minister of National Integration, Fernando Bezerra Coelho (PSB-PE), or to President Dilma Rousseff (PT), during an event to sign the order of service for the construction of the Agreste Water Pipeline, in Pesqueira, in the interior of the state. On that occasion, Eduardo and FBC exchanged barbs about the federal resources allocated to Pernambuco.
“I don’t usually send messages through others. When I say things, I dot all the i’s, cross all the t’s, and make the necessary exclamation marks. I don’t use that tactic. It’s not part of my character, my upbringing,” Campos stated. The governor also denied the existence of any friction with the minister, who has publicly defended maintaining the alliance between the PT and PSB parties and the party’s support for President Dilma’s reelection.
“Fernando came, we had lunch together, we went together (to the event in Pesqueira), we talked the whole time about various projects. There was absolutely no split. Those who were there didn't see that. We are friends, companions of many years,” said the manager. Regarding the speculation that FBC might leave the PSB for another party, Campos limited himself to commenting that “you (journalists) know better than I do. I am biased to say.”
Contrary to what he had said on Tuesday, the governor commented that he does not feel pressured by other political parties. "No, by nobody, only you (reporters)," he said jokingly to the journalists covering the announcement made by the governor in the environmental area. On Tuesday, Eduardo questioned the "truculence" with which some parties had been dealing with internal PSB issues, including the launch of its own presidential candidacy.
"Why doesn't the PSB have the right (to discuss its own candidacy)? Why do we have to decide tomorrow? Why this truculence? This is a democratic right. We can have this debate and, when the PSB deems it appropriate, we will consult the party forums and discuss it," the manager said at the time. Campos also denied that the statement was a message to other parties.
