Campos: More education and less Bolsa Família (family allowance program)

PE247 – After criticizing the conduct of economic policy in the administration of President Dilma Rousseff (PT), the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB), decided to attack the main banner of the Workers' Party: Bolsa Família. The criticisms were made, this Monday (27), during a meeting with councilors and leaders of the PSB, in Recife. "We see the daughters of Bolsa Família becoming mothers of Bolsa Família. Are we going to watch them become grandmothers? We don't want this." Campos was received as a presidential candidate. At the event, stickers were also distributed with the sayings "Brazil forward, Eduardo president" and "A new way of governing".

According to the governor, the poorest segments of the population cannot remain solely "hostage" to the Bolsa Família program. "We see the daughters of Bolsa Família recipients becoming mothers of Bolsa Família recipients. Are we going to watch them become grandmothers? We don't want that," declared the governor, while also criticizing the lack of structural and complementary policies to the Bolsa Família program. On this subject, the governor demanded more investment in education as a way to reduce the population's dependence on the program.

Regarding the stickers that were being distributed, Campos said, "I don't even know what that is," according to Folha de São Paulo. The president of the PSB in Pernambuco, Sileno Guedes, denied that the party financed the stickers. The production of the stickers was claimed by the city councilor of Olinda, Márcio Barbosa; however, he denied that he was conducting an early election campaign and said that the slogan refers to Eduardo as the national president of the party.
