Goiás 247 - Journalist Oloares Ferreira, from TV Record, hosts the program Balanço Geral and is known for his harsh criticism of politicians. This Monday, the City Council rejected the title of honorary citizen of Goiânia for Oloares - the honor was proposed by councilman Wellington Peixoto (PSB).

Twenty-four favorable votes were needed, but only 13 councilors voted in favor of Oloares, 12 voted against, two abstained, and Tayrone di Martino (journalist), who was presiding over the session, did not vote.

The rejection of the title for Oloares was orchestrated by the president of the City Council, Clécio Alves. He has filed four lawsuits against the journalist and was harshly criticized by the presenter during the occupation of the House plenary by municipal teachers.

Last week, Clécio used the podium to give a speech against the title. And it worked. Eleven other councilors shared his opinion and voted against the honor. All the councilors who voted against it are part of the support base of Mayor Paulo Garcia (PT), another who suffers daily from Oloares' criticism on the Balanço Geral program.

The presenter thanked the council members who voted in favor, but stressed that he never asked to be honored. Wellinton Peixoto called into the Balanço Geral program live and apologized to Oloares, saying he felt ashamed by the denial of the title.
