The Chamber of Deputies, which supported the coup, now says that Temer is only thinking about surviving.
The governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara (PSB), who until a few months ago supported the parliamentary coup that brought Michel Temer to power, said that the PMDB member only thinks about his political survival; "It's not possible that we have a situation with so much unemployment, so much confusion, and people only think about political survival," he stated, referring to the accusations against the PMDB member; "We have nothing planned. Everything is done hastily, everything without explanation, without transparency, in a way that I don't agree with," he added.
Pernambuco 247 - The governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara (PSB), who until a few months ago supported the parliamentary coup that brought Michel Temer to power, said that the PMDB member only thinks about his political survival. "It's not possible that we have a situation with so much unemployment, so much confusion, and people only think about political survival," Câmara stated. "We have nothing planned. Everything is done hastily, everything without explanation, without transparency, in a way that I don't agree with," he added in an interview with Rádio Jornal do Commercio.
Temer was indicted by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) for the crimes of criminal organization and obstruction of justice based on plea bargain testimonies from JBS executives. According to the PGR, the PMDB member was the head of the "PMDB gang." In addition to Temer, the ministers of the Civil House, Eliseu Padilha, and of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Moreira Franco, were also indicted. The scheme allegedly generated approximately R$ 587 million in bribes.
Câmara also said that the federal government has refused to engage in dialogue with the states. "It's becoming increasingly difficult to get answers," he said, referring to the lack of response to the open letter written by the governors of the Northeast questioning the dismantling of the national electricity sector, especially the privatization of Chesf. "Show us that we're wrong. Not even that has been done," he exclaimed.
The Minister of Mines and Energy, Fernando Bezerra Coelho Filho, switched from the PSB to the PMDB less than a month ago and currently, along with his father, also a former socialist and now PMDB member, Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho, is in opposition to the state government.
