Pernambuco 247 - The governor-elect of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara (PSB), said he will announce the transition to assume office in October. "We will begin the transition in October; start thinking about the beginning of our government in January. A government of continuity that cannot stop at any moment," said the socialist in an interview with Rádio Jornal. Câmara will replace the current governor, João Lyra Neto (PSB), who was the vice-governor to former governor Eduardo Campos (PSB). Lyra assumed the state executive when Campos launched his candidacy for President of the Republic.
According to him, with the transition beginning this month, it will be possible to set the desired pace right from the start of the administration. "We will begin the transition in October; start thinking about the beginning of our government in January. A government of continuity that cannot stop at any point," said Câmara. The socialist also said that he intends to govern alongside people committed to the ideals of the Popular Front.
Câmara was elected with the highest proportional vote in the entire country (68,08%) with the support of 21 parties that formed the Popular Front of Pernambuco coalition. "We want to be ready to govern with people who want to help us, with people who understand what is best for Pernambuco and what the population has approved," he pointed out.
He also stated that he will continue the "Todos Por Pernambuco" (All for Pernambuco) program, initiated by Campos during his first term as governor. "Starting in early 2015, we will implement 'Todos por Pernambuco,' as we did in 2007 and 2011. It's a process of listening to the population that takes place in all regions of the state. And we will agree on the priorities in each region within our government program. This will determine what will happen immediately in 2015, and what may be left for 2016, 2017, and 2018," he emphasized.
