Bahia 247 - Author of the project that instituted the return of the Municipal Radio Broadcaster Day on September 21st in Salvador, councilor Leandro Guerrilha celebrates the professionals' day in a special session this Friday (19), at 14 pm, in the Plenary of the Municipal Chamber. The date had been changed by former president Lula to November 7th.
According to the councilman, who has been involved in the fight of the profession to prevent the date from being changed since 2006 and has been a radio broadcaster for over 20 years, there are plenty of reasons for the profession to celebrate this year. "Therefore, I couldn't fail to request a special session to celebrate a profession whose social importance and considerable service to our society is immense."
The councilman believes that "radio not only contributes to the civic engagement of the people, but also helps." Bill 8611/13, authored by Guerrilha, was approved on May 22nd.
"This was yet another way to signal to society the contribution of these professionals who, like me, bring information to the homes of Salvador residents through one of the oldest means of communication, which is radio. Unfortunately, the profession still does not have the social value it deserves, and this tribute reinforces my stance in defense of radio broadcasters throughout my term."
