Sedex boxes are out of stock at the post office in the capital.

Some stores in Belo Horizonte have no sizes available; others are out of some models. The shortage has lasted for almost a month, and the stores blame the company's headquarters in Brasília.

Mines 247 – Anyone needing to send a letter via Sedex service in Belo Horizonte should be prepared: there are no boxes available at several post offices in the capital. Postal workers are advising customers to buy boxes at stationery stores near the post offices. According to the manager of one store, the shortage is due to a lack of shipments from the central post office in Brasília.

Customers seeking Sedex service at the post office are in for a surprise when they arrive at the counter. Almost all post offices in Belo Horizonte are lacking boxes for parcels and plastic envelopes for correspondence. Employees advise customers to go to the nearest bookstore and buy similar packaging. At the post office on Avenida Getúlio Vargas, in the Centro-Sul region, none of the seven sizes of boxes or envelopes are available. Those who go there resort to a stationery store on Avenida Afonso Pena, where they buy packaging similar to that offered by the post office, costing between R$ 5 and R$ 20.

The store manager, Raíssa Moreira, admits to the lack of materials and envelopes, but affirms that she normally adheres to the schedule for replenishment orders to the company's headquarters in Brasília. “There are two orders per month. In the last one, we requested 500 envelopes and only received 50,” says Raíssa. The material began to run low about a month ago, without replenishment. Office boy Rômulo Henrique de Lima, 22, entered the agency prepared, with a cardboard box in hand to pack the packages that the company he works for needs to send. “For about 15 days there haven't been any packages at the agency. Today I spent 15 minutes improvising one on the counter.”

By phone, Estado de Minas contacted other post offices in Belo Horizonte. At the store on Rua dos Caetés, in the city center, there are no boxes in sizes 1 (the largest), 4, and 7 (narrower). At Avenida Cristiano Machado, 4.000, there are boxes numbered 1, 3, and 4, but no envelopes. At Rua Jacuí, 1.221, in Floresta, there are boxes in sizes 1 to 4 and envelopes are available. The Belo Horizonte post office, through its press office, stated that it was unaware of the shortage. Regarding the problem at the Getúlio Vargas agency, the press office promised to intervene to resolve the issue and expects to be notified of the shortage by other stores.
