Caiado criticizes PT for Dilma's "victimization"

According to Ronaldo Caiado, federal deputy (DEM-GO) and leader of the minority in the National Congress, accusing the "white and conservative elite" of the insults against Dilma at the Itaquerão stadium is an insult to the intelligence of Brazilians; "by victimizing her, the PT is trying to 'deceive public opinion and make people forget that, behind the boos and the rude insults, there are concrete dissatisfactions in the population, which already materialized in the streets in June of last year'."

247 – Federal deputy Ronaldo Caiado (DEM-GO), leader of the minority in the National Congress, criticized the PT (Workers' Party) for "victimizing" President Dilma Rousseff after receiving insults at the Itaquerão stadium. Neither insults nor victimhood

To believe that those who insulted Dilma are members of the "white and conservative elite" is an insult to the intelligence of Brazilians.

It is unacceptable in a democracy for a president to be publicly insulted in such a crude manner, especially at an event as significant as the opening of the World Cup, watched by more than 3 billion people worldwide.

It's rude, it deserves our condemnation, but we can't forget the context that led thousands of people to insult President Dilma Rousseff at the Itaquerão stadium. And even less can we accept the "victimhood" that the PT (Workers' Party) intends to impose on society in yet another of its "traps" of raising false issues in false debates, with false arguments.

To believe that those who insulted her are "cretins," "thugs," members of the "white and conservative elite" is an insult to the intelligence of Brazilians and is to imagine that they have no memory or ability to interpret political gestures.

For years, the PT (Workers' Party) and its main leaders harshly attacked the figure of the President of the Republic, whoever occupied the main seat in the Palácio do Planalto (Presidential Palace). Former presidents José Sarney, Itamar Franco, and Fernando Henrique Cardoso all suffered gross attacks from Lula and other leading figures of the party. The list of PT adversaries includes Mário Covas (who was even physically assaulted), José Agripino, and the Supreme Court Justice Joaquim Barbosa, who even received death threats.

This has always been the political strategy of the current president's party, since its founding. It involves attacking those who think differently, exacerbating conflicts through simplistic dichotomies – "white elite" versus "black majority" – and not respecting the majority's decision, as seen in the "Out with FHC" campaign and the 1988 Constitution, which they resisted signing.

Now they are trying to use the Itaquerão incident to reverse the situation and "victimize" President Dilma Rousseff as a woman, a "family woman," a "defenseless grandmother," to gain political advantage. They purposefully forget that Dilma Rousseff herself used public money on national radio and television to fuel the conflict. She contributed a barrage of insults that included expressions hardly befitting her office, such as "defeated" and "ghosts of the past."

By portraying her as a victim, they are trying to deceive public opinion and make people forget that, behind the boos and rude insults, there are concrete dissatisfactions within the population, which already materialized in the streets last June.

The economy is doing poorly, inflation is soaring, interest rates are rising, and corruption is rampant. The astronomical and overpriced expenses of the World Cup projects, the non-existent legacy, and the incompetence in fulfilling promises have compromised the image of the government and the country, both domestically and internationally, as polls indicate.

Even so, in a vain attempt to deceive the population, they pretend that this information does not refer to their administration. This is the situation, unacceptable in a democracy. We cannot allow this cynical exercise in victimhood by the PT to prosper any longer.

We need to expose him and guarantee a fully democratic regime, without insults, but also without lies or playing the victim.
