Unemployment rate falls in Greater São Paulo.

The unemployment rate in the São Paulo metropolitan region fell, from 17,2% in October to 16,8% in November; according to the data, the number of unemployed was calculated at 1,869 million people, 41 fewer than in the previous month; the largest increase recorded was in the service sector (1,7%, or the creation of 94 jobs); this information comes from the Employment and Unemployment Survey (PED), conducted monthly by the State System of Data Analysis Foundation (Fundação Seade) and Dieese.

The unemployment rate in the São Paulo metropolitan area fell, from 17,2% in October to 16,8% in November. This information comes from the Employment and Unemployment Survey (PED), conducted monthly by the State System of Data Analysis Foundation (Fundação Seade) and the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese).

According to the data, the number of unemployed was calculated at 1,869 million people, 41 fewer than in the previous month. This number is due to the increase in the employment level, with the creation of 65 jobs (0,7%), and the Economically Active Population (EAP), which registered 24 people entering the labor market, equivalent to 0,2%.

The data also shows that in November the employment level increased by 0,7%, and the number of employed people was estimated at 9,257 million. This result was due to increases in employment in the Services sector (1,7%, or the creation of 94 jobs), the Manufacturing Industry (1,4%, or 19 jobs), and Construction (0,6%, or 4 jobs), in addition to a reduction in the Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles sector (-2,1%, or the elimination of 35 jobs).

The research also showed that the number of salaried workers varied by 0,4%. In the private sector, there was an increase in the number of salaried workers without formal contracts (4,6%) and a decrease in the number of salaried workers with formal contracts (-0,8%). The number of self-employed workers increased by 2,6%, as did the number of workers in other positions (0,6%). The level of domestic workers fell by 0,8%.

According to the PED (Employment and Unemployment Survey), between September and October, the average real income of employed individuals increased by 1,7%, reaching R$ 2.014,00, and that of salaried workers increased by 1,3%, reaching R$ 2.059,00.
