From DCM, via Rebuildables - In Salvador's multicultural circuit, Pelourinho experienced the best of Carnival at the end of last night (24). On the stage in the square in the Historic Center, a tribute to the fifty years of Tropicália brought together Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, José Carlos Capinam, Alexandre Leão, Claudia Cunha and Moreno Veloso in the same show.

One of the greatest exponents of Tropicalismo, Caetano was not going to perform, but after a brief show and Capinam taking the stage and explaining the ideas of the movement, the act was announced. Caetano said that he hadn't rehearsed and that he would improvise.

In the end, the singer and songwriter sang "Alegria, alegria," was accompanied by the audience, and received a response of "Out with Temer!" "I'm very grateful to be here, I didn't even plan to play, but I came. I stopped by because I love Carnival and I'm proud of Tropicalismo. My son will play and Gil will sing, and that's it, it's perfect," said Caetano, before going on stage.

After a few more songs, Gilberto Gil was called up and received a standing ovation from the audience, a mix of local fans, fans from other states, and international tourists. He then sang "Soy Louco por ti América," a collaboration with Capinam, first performed by Caetano. The setlist also included Marginália II, Domingo no Parque, and Toda Menina Baiana.

"Tropicália gave space to many different styles in the Bahian carnival, such as the Afro-Brazilian carnival groups and axé music. It's wonderful to receive these tributes," said Gil. After Gil's performance, Moreno Veloso, Caetano's son, continued the presentation, performing, alongside Cláudia Cunha, songs in homage to Olodum and Ilê Aiyê.
