CADE approves Latam and American Airlines joint venture without restrictions.
The regulatory body's assessment is that the operation does not have "anti-competitive potential," according to an opinion published on its website.
SÃO PAULO (Reuters) - The General Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) approved without restrictions the joint venture between Latam LAN.SN and American Airlines (AAL.O) for air transport of passengers and cargo on routes between North and South America, according to a publication in the Official Gazette of the Union this Thursday.
The regulatory body's assessment is that the operation does not have "anti-competitive potential," according to an opinion published on its website.
In the specific case of the air cargo transport segment, the CADE document highlights, among the factors that alleviate competition concerns, the "idle capacity of the main competitors".
Regarding passenger transport, the CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) opinion states that the market entry conditions are sufficient to challenge any "potential exercise of power" by the applicants.
