The search at the site of the plane crash involving the entourage of former PSB presidential candidate Eduardo Campos is practically over, according to forensic expert Antônio Nogueira of the Scientific Police. All seven people on board died in the crash. The 13 surrounding properties remain cordoned off, and no families have been allowed to return home.

According to him, virtually all the remains of the aircraft's occupants have already been collected and sent to the Central Forensic Institute (IML) in the capital of São Paulo, where they will undergo DNA testing. "Basically, what is going [to São Paulo] are anatomical parts, that is, body parts to be identified," he stated.

Fire Department teams searched throughout the night. According to the expert, the Scientific Police had 25 to 30 people working from yesterday (13) to today (14). At around 9:30 am, the teams began a final sweep of the site.

The men focused on a crater of approximately 10 square meters where the jet carrying Eduardo Campos crashed. "After [the crash] there was a scattering [of debris], due to the force of the impact," explained Antônio.

The main aircraft parts found among the wreckage will be examined by the Air Force. Many factors, such as the location where each part was found, will be taken into consideration during the investigation into the causes of the crash.

The expert said there is no estimate of how long it will take for the investigation to determine the cause. "In the TAM accident, it took practically 20 months," he stated. The TAM plane crash occurred in 2007 while landing at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, and resulted in the deaths of 199 people.
