Brazil has two reports of sexual harassment per hour, research shows.

247 - Figures from the Brazilian Public Security Forum showed that Brazil registers at least two reports of sexual harassment per hour. 

The statistics, published this Friday (17) by newspaper The State of S.Paulo, was released in the context of the media and social media coverage of expulsion of MC Guimê and Antônio 'Cara de Sapato' from the Big Brother Brasil (BBB 23) program, for sexual harassment against Mexican contestant Dania Mendez.

Sexual harassment occurs when someone commits a lewd act against another person without their consent. Sexual assault occurs when there is coercion to gain sexual advantage in a relationship based on position or function. The penalty for the crime of sexual harassment is one to two years of imprisonment, and for sexual assault it is one to five years of imprisonment.
