Brazil loses to Poland in the Volleyball World League.
The men's national team was defeated 3 sets to 1 on Sunday afternoon in Finland, in the third match of the final round of the championship.
Brazilian Volleyball Confederation – Brazil tried, but couldn't manage it. On the afternoon of Sunday the 17th, the Brazilian men's volleyball team was defeated by Poland 3 sets to 1 (22/25, 23/25, 25/21 and 22/25), in the third match of the last round of the 2012 World League. The two teams entered the court tied with 26 points and, with the result, the Poles advanced to 29 and secured their qualification for the Final Phase of the competition.
In this 23rd edition of the World League, Poland has a better record. In the first stage, in Toronto (Canada), the Poles beat Brazil 3 sets to 2. In the second, in Katowice (Poland), at home, they achieved another victory by the same score. When playing with the support of the crowd, the Brazilian team won 3 sets to 1. And, this Sunday, in Tampere, Finland, the Poles achieved another victory.

Poland took a 2-0 lead, and Murilo, with an attack from the net, scored the first point for Brazil. With Wallace, Brazil tied the score at four points. Thiago Alves blocked, and the Brazilian team took the lead on the next play. With a service error by Brazil, the Poles made it 8-7 at the first technical timeout. Poland managed to open up a two-point advantage, but Lucão's block tied it up (14-14), and with an attack point by Murilo, Brazil took the lead. Again with Murilo, the Brazilian team made it 16-15 at the second technical timeout. With an ace by Bruno, it was 18-16 in favor of the Brazilian team. Poland tied the score (22-22), took the lead (23-22), and closed the set at 25-22.
The second set started better for Poland, who took a 6-3 lead. At this point, Bernardinho called a timeout. Brazil came back stronger and closed the gap to 6-5. At the first technical timeout, the advantage remained with the Poles: 8-6. Poland continued to play better and, at the second technical timeout, was four points ahead of Brazil: 16-12. With Vissotto, the Brazilian team reduced the difference to two points (18-16). But the Poles widened the gap again and, when they made it 22-18, Bernardinho stopped the game. In a good serving sequence by Vissotto, Brazil closed the gap to 22-21. But the Poles resisted and won 25-23.
The third set started competitively. The teams tied at 2-2, and after a good serve by Sidão, Brazil took the lead. The Polish team imposed a strong rhythm and made it 8-5 at the first technical timeout. Then, with a great serving run by Rodrigão, the Brazilians reacted and, with a block by Sidão, tied the score at eight points. When Brazil took the lead (9-8), the Polish coach, Andrea Anastasi, called a timeout. Still with Rodrigão serving, the Brazilian team continued to block well and opened up an 11-8 lead. Brazil then made it 14-9, and Anastasi stopped the game again. At the second technical timeout, Brazil led 16-11. Vissotto scored an ace, making it 18-12 for Brazil. The Polish team showed a reaction (19-15), and Bernardinho called a timeout. The coach saw the opponent get even closer (23-21) and stopped the game again. But with a block, Vissotto closed out the set 25-21.
Sidão opened the scoring in the fourth set with a strong attack. Thiago Alves blocked, and Brazil made it 3-2. The teams tied at six points, and the Polish team went into the first technical timeout with an advantage: 8-7. With a powerful attack from the net, Murilo leveled the score. The score was also tied at 13 points. Poland was ahead at the second technical timeout (16-14). Upon returning, the Polish team scored another point (17-14), and Bernardinho called a timeout. Brazil made some errors, and with the score in favor of the opponent at 21-17, Bernardinho stopped the game again. Poland continued to play better and closed the set at 25-22.
