According to the company, thirty people with "minor injuries" were assisted by the plant's fire brigade team and taken to the Márcio Cunha Hospital, in the city, run by the São Francisco Xavier Foundation, which is maintained by Usiminas.
In a bulletin released at 13:50 PM, the commander of the 11th Battalion of the Military Fire Department in Ipatinga, Major Nunes, came forward to "reassure the population" and inform them that there is no need to evacuate the neighborhoods near the power plant, since the accident is under control.
