Bahia 247 - Of the 142,6 families in Bahia receiving Bolsa Família benefits who were required to update their data in the state's Cadastro Único (Single Registry), 37 reported an increase in income and left the program. Nationwide, 436,2 families had the same situation. Of this total in Bahia, 19,4 families exceeded the monthly income threshold of R$ 154 per person, which entitles them to the benefit.
This means they have escaped poverty and, therefore, will no longer receive the benefit, which averages R$170. The remaining 17,6 declared earnings above the extreme poverty threshold, characterized by a monthly income of up to R$77 per person in the family. In this case, they will begin to receive a lower amount from Bolsa Família.
The 2014 registration review had the highest participation rate in history among beneficiaries. Approximately 123,8 families – 86,8% of the total who needed to update their data – attended the Social Assistance Reference Centers and Bolsa Família service points in cities across Bahia during 2014, up until March 20th of that year.
The 18,8 families who did not update their information will have their benefits canceled starting this month.
