BNDES will finance multiplex cinemas in Minas Gerais.
A federal development bank will finance the opening of 43 classrooms in five Brazilian states: in addition to Minas Gerais, also Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. The investment totals R$ 29,7 million.
From Agência Brasil - An additional 43 movie theaters will open in five Brazilian states – Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul – with financial support from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The announcement was made today by the institution.
The four financing operations were approved by the bank under the BNDES Program for the Development of the Cultural Economy (BNDES Procult). R$ 29,7 million in resources from the Audiovisual Sector Fund will be disbursed through the Cinema Near You program.
Of the total resources, R$ 14,9 million is allocated to the company Circuito Espaço de Cinema SA, from the Adhemar Oliveira Group, which will be responsible for the implementation of 26 theaters in Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo.
The new cinemas will implement the "Popular Actions in Cinema" project, which provides for the distribution and sale of tickets at affordable prices. The expectation is that the project will create 100 direct jobs after its completion and 200 indirect jobs during the implementation phase.
Funding will also be provided to Cineart – Delta Filmes, for the construction of a multiplex cinema complex in Belo Horizonte (MG), to the company Praia de Belas – Empreendimentos Cinematográficos, for the construction of six screens in Porto Alegre (RS), and to Redecine Hortolândia Cinematográfica, for the installation of five cinema screens in Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo.
