Belo Horizonte will have daily direct flights to Buenos Aires.
Governor Antonio Anastasia believes the new travel option will contribute to Minas Gerais' integration into Latin American tourism.
Minas Agency - The internationalization process of Minas Gerais gains new flights with the inclusion of Belo Horizonte in Aerolíneas Argentinas' destinations. The airline will operate, starting June 1st, a direct and daily flight between the capital of Minas Gerais and Buenos Aires. Tickets will be available for purchase starting this Wednesday (20), on the company's website - www.aerolineas.com.ar. Daily, a flight with an Embraer aircraft, with a capacity for 96 passengers, will depart from Tancredo Neves International Airport, in Confins, bound for the capital of Argentina.
The announcement was made this Tuesday (19), by Governor Antonio Anastasia, during a press conference at the Administrative City. He was officially informed by the company's board, which is still finalizing the details for the new operation. According to Antonio Anastasia, the direct and daily connection to Buenos Aires is more good news for Belo Horizonte and Minas Gerais. Since 2008, the State has intensified efforts to attract international flights, without connections, to Belo Horizonte.
"Attracting international flights to and from Belo Horizonte is yet another strategy of the Minas Gerais government for the state's internationalization process. We already have direct flights to the United States and Portugal, our gateway to Europe. The direct connection with Buenos Aires will certainly contribute to Minas Gerais becoming increasingly integrated into the Latin American tourism market," said the governor of Minas Gerais.
High activity
Since 2008, non-stop international flights have been implemented in Minas Gerais, with destinations including Miami (daily by American Airlines and three times a week by TAM), Panama (six times a week), and Lisbon (four times a week). The revitalization of Tancredo Neves International Airport in Confins resulted in significant growth in passengers traveling on international routes. From 2008 to 2012, passenger traffic at the terminal totaled more than 1,5 million users.
During this period, the number of international arrivals and departures grew by 178,4%, increasing from 160 passengers in 2008 to 445,6 users last year. In 2006, for example, the movement did not reach 10 people. The data comes from the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero).
