City Newspaper - The two vice-governors of Marcelo Déda affirm that they are united by the same objective: "to maintain the government project that has been successful for the people of Sergipe since 2007". Jackson Barreto was vice-governor for the first three years of the second term, until the end of last year when Déda passed away. He then assumed the governorship and leadership of the group's political project and is now running for re-election. Belivaldo Chagas was an active vice-governor in the first term, until 2010, and Secretary of Education in the second term, and is now running for vice-governor.

"Being Déda's vice-governor was a moment I consider very important. I confess that at a certain point I even thought about leaving public life, I thought about no longer running for office, but when I was called upon by the PSB leadership, by the group's leadership, by the coalition as a whole to participate, I understood that it was time to continue this work, a project that also originated with me and that the population approves of, because the government is being run with ethics, transparency, hard work and dynamism," said Belivaldo Chagas.

He began his public life participating in the Valadares government, from 1986 to 1990, when he was elected to the first of four consecutive terms as a state representative, "all of them in the opposition," said Belivaldo. "From the first day as a state representative, I started defending this group."

In 1994, he participated as a candidate for re-election as a state representative in Jackson Barreto's "memorable" campaign. "The work that led to this government existing today began back in 1994, with Jackson, Déda, Valadares, and that whole group that remains united."

That year, Jackson Barreto was victorious in the first round. "I remember that my election was stolen in Tobias Barreto, and we sought to correct that result in court, which proves that that election had very serious problems. Perhaps even if the 94 election had happened as it does today, with a more active press, new legislation, and electronic voting, then-candidate for governor Jackson Barreto would have won in the first round," he believes.

"And this group remained united in 2006, when Déda was elected governor and I was the vice-governor, we continued in 2010 with Déda and Jackson. Now this project cannot stop, because of the work done, because of the actions undertaken aiming at the future of Sergipe. Everything that is being done, bringing positive actions to all areas, can continue with Déda's two former vice-governors, Jackson Barreto as governor and Belivaldo as vice-governor," said Belivaldo.

"Therefore, we have a history to show that this group has been working since 1990, and that this is a government that has actions in all municipalities. The population understands this and will not change what is working well."
