Barbara Gancia demands an explanation from Einstein Hospital regarding the attack on Mantega.
"Is the hospital's management aware that if this brutal behavior is tolerated and no action is taken against those who committed it, it will mean that the Albert Einstein Israelite Beneficent Society condones irresponsibility, the escalation of violence, and disrespect for public order?" asks journalist Barbara Gancia in a letter to the president of the Albert Einstein Israelite Society, Claudio Lottenberg. Barbara was outraged by the episode of intolerance against former minister Guido Mantega.

To Dr. Claudio Lottenberg, president of the Albert Einstein Israelite Beneficent Society, who, last Sunday, in the very humble opinion of this typist speaking to you, occupied page 3 of Folha de S. Paulo (Trends/Debates) with the distribution of boastful statements about the institution he directs, soporific statistics, and metaphors of dubious taste about the health of the body and the vitality of the country ("cancer of corruption"; "fiscal greed that increases the obesity of sclerotic public organs" - is that true? -; "Brazil needs intensive therapy with the support of all who can collaborate in its recovery"), well then, to this disciple of Hippocrates so zealous of his sacred duty and so averse to the exercise of power through politics, I have some incisive questions (wow!):
Dear Mr. President:
1) Have the individuals who harassed former minister Mantega and his wife, who went to the hospital on Tuesday for cancer treatment, been identified?
2) What steps are you taking? Has a police report been filed?
3) Is the hospital management aware that if this brutal behavior is tolerated and no action is taken against the perpetrator, it will mean that the Albert Einstein Israelite Beneficent Society condones irresponsibility, the escalation of violence, and disrespect for public order?
Do you understand, Dr. Claudio, that Einstein cannot consent, because that would mean he would side with the reckless individuals who want to watch the circus burn down without considering the consequences for the institutions?
