The Pernambuco delegation is pressuring Temer to strengthen Hemobrás.
One of the most vocal critics of Michel Temer's government in Congress, Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) met with the PMDB member, accompanied by ten other Pernambuco parliamentarians, to request the full retention of Hemobrás in the state; the state-owned blood derivatives and biopharmaceuticals company, created in 2009, is currently operating in the Pernambuco municipality of Goiana; parliamentarians fear the relocation of a new Hemobrás factory to Paraná, the electoral stronghold of the Minister of Health, Ricardo Barros.
Marcelo Brandão, reporter for Agência Brasil - One of the most critical voices against the Michel Temer government in Congress, Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) met today (27) with the President of the Republic accompanied by other parliamentarians from the Pernambuco delegation, to ask for the full permanence of Hemobrás in the state.
The state-owned company in the blood products and biopharmaceuticals sector, created in 2009, is operating in the Pernambuco municipality of Goiana, but has not fully implemented its industrial park.
The ten parliamentarians present at the meeting with the president, which was also attended by the Minister of Health, Ricardo Barros, fear the relocation of a new Hemobrás factory to Paraná, which, according to the senator, would weaken the company's structure in Pernambuco. The recombinant factor 8 factory, the senator explained, is the state-owned company's main product. It is a medication that helps control bleeding in patients with hemophilia.
"The president clearly stated what we wanted. He said there will be a single factory for recombinant factor 8, which will be in Pernambuco, and that Hemobrás will be completed. That's what he said explicitly. I think it was good," said the Workers' Party member after the meeting, late this afternoon.
Costa did not give details about the meeting and stated that they did not discuss the charges that Temer will have to defend himself against in the Chamber of Deputies.
