Goiás 247 - The Minister of Cities, Alexandre Baldy, delivered, this Friday (June 1st), R$ 10,8 million in resources to the municipalities of Montes Claros and Itapirapuã, in the western region of the state of Goiás. The investments will be allocated to infrastructure, asphalt paving, and housing.

The first visit took place in Montes Claros. The minister was accompanied by the mayor, Antônio Cícero, federal deputy Roberto Balestra, the superintendent of Caixa Econômica Federal, Gilmar Peixoto, and other local authorities. R$ 350.000,00 was allocated to the municipality for investment in asphalt paving and infrastructure in various neighborhoods of the region.

At the event, Baldy also announced the contracting of housing units under the "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" (My House, My Life) program, specifically the Urban Entities modality, for the municipality. Fifty houses will be built with a total contract value of R$ 3,27 million.

In Itapirapuã, R$ 400 was announced through an extra-budgetary amendment, and another R$ 299,5 through an amendment by federal deputy Roberto Balestra. The funds will be allocated to asphalt paving works in the city.

Itapirapuã was also one of the cities in Goiás state contracted to receive the "Minha Casa, Minha Vida – Entidades" (My House, My Life – Entities) program. The municipality will receive 100 homes that will be built with a total value of R$ 6,55 million.

Baldy was accompanied by Mayor Zélia Camelo de Oliveira, Federal Deputy Roberto Balestra, State Deputy Cláudio Meirelles, Secretary of State for Political Coordination Carlos Alberto Lereia, and other local authorities.

In his speech, he reminded everyone that the resources for the construction of the new homes are already secured and asked that the work be carried out quickly. “These 100 homes will generate employment and promote income, and that's what municipalities need. Therefore, the sooner these works begin, the better for the city and the better for the families who dream of owning their own home,” he commented.

The minister also recalled that the Federal Government will build and contract 700 homes throughout Brazil in 2018 alone, and stated that even more needs to be done to guarantee the legal right of families to own their own homes.

“Securing contracts for these 100 homes is a challenge overcome, but it also reminds us that we cannot allow ourselves to stand still. I really want us to be able to build more houses here, generate more jobs, more income, and the most beautiful thing of all: the dream of handing over the keys, the homes, to these families who need them so much,” he commented.

He concluded: “I want to make this commitment to work and dedication. May we have more moments like this, contracting more housing, more homes so that families in Goiás are more privileged in the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program.”
