Athletic Agency - Atlético achieved their second consecutive victory in the Brazilian Championship by defeating Corinthians 1-0 this Sunday, in a celebratory afternoon for the Alvinegra fans at Independência stadium. The winning goal was scored by Danilinho with a header, completing a cross from defender Réver. With the triumph over the São Paulo team, Galo reached six points in the Brasileirão and climbed to 3rd place in the standings. In the next round, on June 6th (Wednesday), the opponent will be Bahia, again in Belo Horizonte.

The game

In the first half, the game was quite disjointed, with few scoring opportunities for either side. In Atlético's first attempt, André took a shot from outside the area, and the ball deflected off a defender.

In the next attack, André headed the ball down and Mancini's shot went wide to the right of the goal. At 40 minutes, it was Bernard's turn to shoot wide. Shortly after, Giovanni made a great save from Willian's shot.

In stoppage time, Atlético Mineiro created a dangerous chance with a cross from Bernard, but the first half ended goalless.

Second time

Coach Cuca made two substitutions at halftime, replacing Dudu Cearense and Mancini with Escudero and Júnior César, respectively.

In Atlético's first chance, Danilinho was fouled on the right, Escudero crossed the ball into the box, and the São Paulo defense managed to clear it. Then, Rafael Marques made a crucial tackle in the six-yard box.

In the 19th minute, the goal celebration erupted at Independência stadium when Réver crossed the ball and Danilinho headed it over goalkeeper Cássio: Atlético Mineiro 1 x 0.

The second goal almost came shortly after in a counter-attack, but André's pass to Danilinho was too strong.

At 23 minutes, after a play between Danilinho and Bernard, André pushed the ball into the goal, but the referee signaled offside.

Next, Bernard took a corner kick from the left and Rever headed it over the goal.

Atlético Mineiro had another good opportunity with a shot from André, who received a pass from Escudero but shot wide. Marcos Rocha and Danilinho created danger with crosses from the right, which were cleared by the Corinthians defense.

In the 39th minute, Fábio Santos received his second yellow card and was sent off, the same happening to André moments later. Atlético almost extended their lead with Marcos Rocha, who received a good pass from Bernard and shot straight at the defender.

Atlético Mineiro played with great determination in the final minutes and secured their second victory in the Brazilian Championship.
