Mines 247 – Minas Gerais is on fire and not just bragging in this year's Brasileirão. After Cruzeiro beat Vasco away from home, Atlético Mineiro dispatched Náutico in the sixth round of the championship. The more than 16 Atlético Mineiro fans who were at the Arena Independência saw the team's attacking quartet perform well and, as a bonus, were treated to a good performance by Ronaldinho Gaúcho. Playing for the first time in front of his home crowd, R49 scored his first goal in an Atlético Mineiro shirt.

Just two minutes into the game, Atlético opened the scoring with midfielder Bernard. However, Náutico didn't falter and, in the 13th minute, Araújo equalized for the Pernambuco team. With Ronaldinho Gaúcho heavily marked, the Minas Gerais team had great difficulty in creating attacking plays, and the match became very balanced. In the 34th minute, referee Raphael Claus awarded a penalty, heavily contested by Náutico, for a foul on striker Jô. Gaúcho converted the penalty well and scored his first goal for Atlético. Still in the first half, Galo (Atlético) had some luck to score their third goal. Striker Danilinho attempted a cross, the ball deflected off the Náutico defense and ended up in the net past goalkeeper Felipe.

With a 3-1 lead, the home team returned more relaxed for the second half. Creating a good number of chances, it didn't take long for them to score their fourth goal. Receiving a pass from Bernard, Danilinho turned and shot past the Náutico goalkeeper. In the final play of the game, Ronaldinho took a corner kick and the Argentinian Escudero finished it off, sealing the rout.

In the next round, Atlético Mineiro will try to maintain their momentum by facing Grêmio in Porto Alegre.
