Ataídes says he “doesn’t understand” the lack of payment of the base salary adjustment.

Senator Ataídes Oliveira (PSDB) stated that the striking state doctors had no other option given the non-payment of the annual salary adjustment; other state sectors, such as those in education, have already gone on strike since last week; “I really don't understand what's happening. The state broke revenue records in the quarter, invented an illegal and immoral tax package at the end of the year that is sacrificing the people of Tocantins. And we see them on the news saying they don't have the resources to pay the annual salary adjustment, they don't pay this or that. This state administration is going to lead Tocantins into ruin,” he said.

Tocantins 247 Senator Ataídes Oliveira (PSDB) stated that the striking state doctors had no other option given the non-payment of the annual salary adjustment. Other state sectors, such as those in education, have already gone on strike since last week.

“I really don’t understand what’s happening. The state broke revenue records in the quarter, invented an illegal and immoral tax package at the end of the year that is sacrificing the people of Tocantins. And we see them on the news saying they don’t have the resources to pay the base salary increase, they don’t pay this or that. This state administration is going to lead Tocantins into ruin,” he said.

The legislator pointed out that the state closed the first half of this year with R$ 3,05 billion in federal transfers and its own revenue, which is R$ 187 million more than in the same period last year, according to data from the State Treasury itself.

“Something is wrong. This doesn't add up. First: the government isn't doing its homework, which is cutting spending and streamlining the bureaucracy. Then, it's imposing more illegal and immoral taxes on the population, which we are even fighting in court. And furthermore: it has record revenue, but on the other hand, it can't honor its commitments. It's incompetence,” he emphasized.
