(Reuters)- AT&T said on Tuesday that it has agreed to buy Silicon Valley startup AlienVault, allowing the telecom giant to expand its line of cybersecurity products aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
The companies did not disclose the value of the deal, which they expect to finalize in the third quarter.
AT&T is acquiring AlienVault as major telecommunications and technology companies, including Cisco, IBM, and Verizon, expand sales of cybersecurity products, among the fastest-growing segments of the technology industry.
AlienVault raised $52 million in 2015, bringing its total funding to approximately $116 million, according to a statement on its website. Investors included Intel Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Trident Capital.
